Person riding e-bike

There is a push for e-bike and e-scooter regulations in Streetsboro from citizens after an increase of e-bikes and e-scooters on sidewalks and roadways.

Several local communities either already have or currently are looking at legislation to keep the riders safe. This past May, Twinsburg City Council passed legislation regulating e-bikes and e-scooters.

In Streetsboro, Mayor Glenn Broska says that the city’s law department and the police chief are looking at similar legislation. Broska says, “I want to put sensible legislation in place.” He continues that “a lot of the people I see on these e-bikes simply are not following the rules of the road.”

Broska explains that legislation will be a long process, and will not be completed this summer, but he emphasizes that he “…definitely does not want to see somebody get hit or hurt or killed.”
